Privacy Policy
Last updated
Your privacy is important to us. This policy explains how VeloRoam collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you visit veloroam.com.
Information We Collect
When you visit veloroam.com, certain information is collected automatically. Like most websites, standard technologies including server logs may record the date and time of your visit, pages viewed, referring URLs, and your IP address.
VeloRoam does not currently operate an email list or account system, and browsing the site requires no personal information. If you choose to contact us, we will receive the details you provide, such as your name and email address.
Cookies
A cookie is a small text file stored on your device when you visit a website. You can control cookie preferences through your browser settings at any time. Cookies that may be involved in using this site:
- Essential cookies for basic site functionality and security (set by our hosting provider)
- Affiliate cookies set by registration platforms after you click a registration link (see Affiliate Links below)
IP Addresses
Your IP address is automatically collected by our web server as part of standard traffic data. This is used to deliver the pages you request and to maintain the security and performance of the site. We do not use IP addresses to personally identify you.
Spam Protection (Cloudflare Turnstile)
Our contact form uses Cloudflare Turnstile, an invisible spam protection service. Turnstile may collect certain device and browser signals to determine whether a form submission is from a human or a bot. No personal information is stored or shared as part of this process. By using the form, you acknowledge this processing. For full details, please review the Cloudflare Turnstile Privacy Addendum.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to operate and improve veloroam.com, respond to inquiries, and maintain the security of our site. We will not sell, rent, or share your personal information with unaffiliated third parties without your consent, except where required by law.
Email Communications
If VeloRoam introduces an email newsletter in the future, subscribing will be optional, your address will be used solely to send you the content you signed up for, and every email will identify the sender and include a working unsubscribe link, in compliance with the CAN-SPAM Act. We will never sell, rent, or lease a mailing list to any third party.
Affiliate Links
Some links on veloroam.com are affiliate links. If you click one and register or make a purchase, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Affiliate tracking may use cookies. See our Terms and Conditions for the full affiliate disclosure.
RunSignup / BikeSignup
VeloRoam participates in the RunSignup affiliate program. Event registration links on our event pages point to bikesignup.com (RunSignup's cycling brand — the same platform) and are affiliate links.
When you click one of those links you leave veloroam.com, and the registration platform receives the standard information any website receives when you visit it: your IP address, browser and device details, and the fact that you arrived from VeloRoam. The link also carries a tracking code identifying VeloRoam as the referrer, so that any commission is credited to us. The platform may set its own cookies on your device at that point.
We do not send the platform your name, email address, or any other personal detail, and we do not receive your registration details, payment information, or results back from them. If you register for an event, the information you enter is collected by the platform and the event organizer under their privacy policies, not this one. We encourage you to read RunSignup's privacy policy before you register.
Event listings themselves are compiled from the platform's public event data when we build the site. Simply browsing event pages on VeloRoam sends nothing to the platform. That only happens when you click through.
Listing Data Sources
Bike shop listings are compiled from OpenStreetMap (© OpenStreetMap contributors, ODbL) and Overture Maps Foundation places data (CDLA-Permissive-2.0), verified and corrected by us. This is public map data about businesses; it contains no personal information about site visitors.
External Links
veloroam.com contains links to third-party websites, including bike shops, event organizers, and registration platforms. VeloRoam cannot guarantee the accuracy of information on external sites and is not responsible for their content, privacy practices, or products. Links to external sites do not constitute an endorsement by VeloRoam.
Intellectual Property
Original content on veloroam.com, including text, graphics, and our compiled and verified listing data, is the property of VeloRoam or its licensors and is protected by applicable copyright and trademark law, subject to the open-data licenses noted above. You may not republish, reproduce, sell, or redistribute content from this site without prior written consent, except as those licenses permit.
How We Protect Your Information
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information handled by this site. Traffic to veloroam.com is transmitted using SSL encryption. Please note that email is not a fully secure medium — we ask that you do not send sensitive personal information via email.
